Network fees are added to the energy price (blue 0.052324 €/kWh, white 0.065702 and 0.028689 €/kWh), plus the renewables levy of 0.013239 €/kWh and 13 % VAT. Fixed fees (metering point and supply) are roughly €3 per month; the exact amount is on your bill.

When is electricity cheap in Croatia?

The cheap rate (lower tariff, NT) only applies with a two-tariff meter on the “white” model. According to HEP ODS:

  • Winter time (end of October to end of March): lower tariff from 21:00 to 7:00.
  • Summer time (end of March to end of October): lower tariff from 22:00 to 8:00.

The box at the top of the calculator shows whether the higher or lower rate applies right now in Croatia. With a single-tariff meter (“blue” model) the price is the same all day.

How much does a kWh cost for households?

A government decree (NN 101/2026) caps household energy prices from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027: single tariff €0.091324/kWh, higher tariff €0.097189/kWh, lower tariff €0.047688/kWh. Network fees, the renewables levy and 13 % VAT are added, so households pay about €0.177/kWh on the single tariff, about €0.199 at the higher and €0.101 at the lower rate, plus fixed monthly fees.

Watch the 3,000 kWh threshold

The capped price applies to consumption up to 3,000 kWh in six months, about 500 kWh per month on average. Above that, the energy price is 35 % higher, but only for the part above the threshold. Homes heated electrically in winter often exceed it, so shift as much use as possible to the night rate.

Is the two-tariff model worth it?

The lower tariff costs about half of the higher one. The white model pays off if you use at least a quarter of your electricity at night, for example the water heater, washing machine, dryer and EV charging. If you use almost everything during the day, the blue model can be slightly cheaper.

Tips for holiday home owners

  • Put the water heater on a timer so it only heats at night.
  • Heating with an air conditioner uses several times less electricity than an electric heater of the same heat output.
  • In summer, air conditioning in a rental can push consumption to 400–600 kWh per month; include it in your nightly rate.

Prices from the Government decree (NN 101/2026) and HEP ODS tariff items from 1 January 2026. Always check the exact amounts on your bill or at hep.hr. The calculator gives an estimate, not a bill.
