How to use the calculator

The calculator works with three numbers: what a click costs, how many visitors enquire, and how many enquiries turn into business. The rest is arithmetic. Monthly budget ÷ cost per click = clicks. Clicks × conversion rate = leads. Leads × close rate = new customers.

Example: with a budget of 600, a click at 1.20 and a 5 % conversion rate you get 500 clicks and 25 leads a month, or 24 per lead. If a quarter of the leads become customers worth 500 each, that is about 6 new customers and around 3,100 in revenue.

Where to find real click prices

Cost per click depends on industry, location and competition. The best source is Google’s Keyword Planner inside a Google Ads account: enter your services and area to see the top-of-page bid range. Clicks can cost anywhere from a few tens of cents to several euros or pounds, and are most expensive where a single customer is worth a lot, such as dentistry, legal services or real estate. Take the middle of the range and keep a margin.

What changes the result most

  • Landing page. The same campaign can bring twice as many leads on a page with a clear offer, price and call button as on a generic home page. Check your page with our website checker before launch.
  • Conversion tracking. Without tracking calls, forms and WhatsApp messages, Google does not know what success looks like and cannot optimise.
  • Keywords. Searches with intent (“emergency plumber Bristol”) cost more per click but bring enquiries. Generic searches are cheap and rarely end in a call.
  • Schedule and area. Showing ads only during opening hours and only where you work saves budget for clicks you can turn into business.

Is there a minimum Google Ads budget?

Google has no minimum, but a very small budget does not produce enough data. For a local service in one city, a realistic start is usually 10 to 20 a day. National campaigns and competitive industries need more. On a single day Google can spend up to twice your daily budget, but over a month it will not charge more than 30.4 times the daily budget.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Google Ads cost per month?
As much as you decide. You pay only for clicks and set the budget yourself. Small local businesses often start with a few hundred a month, plus a management fee if an agency runs the campaign.
Are the results guaranteed?
No. The calculator shows what the numbers you enter mean in practice. Real results depend on click prices in your industry, the quality of ads and landing page, and the season.
What is a good cost per lead?
One that pays off for your business. If an average job earns you 500 and you close one lead in four, even 60 per lead is profitable.
Why does Google spend more than my daily budget?
On days with more searches Google can spend up to 2 × your daily budget and less on quieter days. Monthly it will not charge more than 30.4 × the daily budget.
